An Example of Thriving in Trying Times

An example of thriving in trying times

The Center for Positive Organizations recently had a meeting where its organizational consortium members shared the challenges faced during this time and what is helping their organization thrive. This case example comes from stories shared in that meeting by Kevin Schnieders, CEO of EDSI a company that helps companies train and retain great people.

Kevin’s example shows us that the structures of the work community, such as role definitions and routines and culture, support the creation of the resources Jane described as part of the Flourishing Triangle.

Here are some other ways Kevin and EDSI are building resources of positive emotion, meaning, and connections:

  • Maintaining culture: Communicating via weekly videos from Kevin while remote that highlight cultural values of being in service and part of the solution to this crisis.

  • Deepening connections:Kevin continues to send fun, handwritten notes on cards from a local company for birthdays and anniversaries.

  • Cultivating networks: EDSI embraces flexible schedules, cross functional learning, problem-solving teams, and community service opportunities that allow for meaningful jobs, even amidst change.
