Why: Composted food waste releases less methane released than food decomposing in a landfill. The compost you create can als be a fertilizer restores soils. Plus it’s pretty cool to see your food turn from scraps into beautiful brown mulch!

How: Composting doesn’t have to be hard! You’ll want to consider what space you have to get started. If you have space to start outdoors, use this resource to get started.

If you’re not able to use an outdoor space at home, try these tips:

  • Collect food scraps and dispose of them within compost bins, within your school, or place of employment.

  • Check if your city offers compost bins and curb pickup.
