Affirmative Action in Higher Education Teach-Out

Case Study: University of Michigan - the University’s Perspective / Lesson 5 of 11

Creating a Diverse Campus Community

4 minutes

While Proposal 2’s ban on affirmative action hindered the University of Michigan’s ability to admit applicants based on racial preference, the University has made intentional efforts to support diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice (DEIJ) initiatives on campus. By prioritizing this work, offices and organizations in the campus community have shown commitment to the value of a diverse student body.

In the following videos, you’ll hear again from Adele Brumfield and then from Katrina Wade-Golden, Associate Vice Provost & Deputy Chief Diversity Officer at the University of Michigan, who share their perspective on the University's involvement in this ongoing work.
