The Flu Vaccine: A Parent's Perspective

Here's a post recently shared by a parent on Facebook:

"I am so thankful for each and every family that vaccinates themselves against the flu. I have a lot of very personal reasons for this. You help keep my two boys who have asthma out of ambulances and the hospital.  You protect my niece and nephew who were born at 25 weeks gestation and have chronic lung disease. They have just been discharged from the hospital after a lengthy stay and, due to their age, will not be eligible for the flu shot for much of the flu season.  You’re ensuring that our family has as much time as possible with our grandfather who has terminal cancer and chronic lung disease. It is important to remember that getting your flu shot isn’t just about your family, though I want them healthy, too! It also helps protect all these vulnerable folks. So, thank you, from all of us families of vulnerable folks - we appreciate you!
