Purpose: Find Your Why
3 minutes
We are better able to thrive when we find our own purpose.
Vic Strecher, a Professor at the University of Michigan School of Public Health, describes how a sense of purpose can have a big impact on our well-being. We are better able to thrive when we find our own purpose and come back to it often. Remember, your purpose does not need to be just one thing for your whole life. It can change, grow, and adapt as you do.
Your practice: Identify your own purpose
Have you reflected on your own sense of purpose before?
If you aren’t sure where to start, Vic suggests simply starting with what is on your phone background. Is it a fond memory with loved ones? Is it a photo of nature or a concert? Does it show off your love to travel? Ask why you like that image until you find some sense of meaning in it. Then, try writing it down.
