Keep going and slow down by managing your energy

You know the feelings of a post-lunch slump? Or the energizing experience of a brainstorm? Learn about energy management and how you can identify and change your daily energy peaks with Gretchen Spreitzer, the Alessi Professor of Business Administration.

Your practice: Energy audit

Over the course of a day, mark off your energy level from 1 (very low) to 10 (very high) each hour, along with what you’re doing. Here’s an energy audit template to get started. After you’re done, identify which things give you more energy and which take it away. Remember, sleep matters! Energy management isn’t just about the highs, see if your energy lowers enough by the end of the day for you to get a great night’s sleep.
