How to sustain thriving

We have shared a great deal in a short time. We hope some of these ideas, frameworks, tools, and simple practices feel like they could support thriving for your life. But it’s important to be compassionate with yourself. Simply holding an image of thriving or resilience in mind will help more than you know. Remember, small moves matter! In fact, one of our community of scholars says it this way: “Small is all.”

Consider trying one thing at a time. See how it fits into your routine. Then, as you adapt it to your own life, try another. These ideas build on each other and soon, it could feel like second nature. And remember the social architecture of thriving–you can design your family or friend groups, your remote work or study groups, and your community groups in ways that create more thriving for others too. You may notice as you start to think like a designer of thriving that other people in your life join you, because they will respond to the social architecture you are shaping.

Sustaining the potential to thrive for yourself and for your community means continuing to look for opportunities where you can take action–however small–to activate those resources so essential for thriving. And, doing it with compassion means accepting all the progress you do or do not make, no matter what it looks like.

One of the ways we can sustain thriving for ourselves and others is by serving as a designer of social architectures of thriving in our own communities. As you think like a designer and try things out in your life, please use this space to ask questions, share new experiments you are trying, note practices or routines that work for you, and share stories with others. We are here to work with you as you learn to think like a designer of thriving in trying times. Pose problems or dilemmas you feel, so you can hear solutions, answers, and suggestions from others.
