Another pathway to higher education is microcredentials. As we’ll learn in this lesson, microcredentials are educational credentials that are shorter than a degree program. In the following video, Sarah Dysart, Senior Director of Online Learning at the University of Michigan’s Center for Academic Innovation provides an introduction to microcredentials.

Note that Sarah uses the term “MOOC,” which stands for “massive open online course.” MOOCs are online courses that are available to anyone for free.
