Learn more About The Story Collider

The Story Collider hosts live storytelling shows, a weekly podcast, and intensive workshops all dedicated to “true, personal stories about science.” We believe that science is shaping all of our lives, perhaps now more than ever before, and that means everyone has science stories to tell. This is why we host all kinds of people on our stages and podcast - scientists, of course, but also patients, poets, parents, and more - and we're hungry to keep growing in this way. Some people call this ""quietly subversive."" We like that. We think science belongs to everyone. We also know that science is not only a process, but a uniquely human undertaking: it shapes and is shaped by flawed, funny, perfectly imperfect human beings. We understand that these vulnerabilities are not something to hide or deny, but wonderful opportunities to share all the joy, sorrow, and rich emotion involved. To help create moments of genuine connection, we embrace both the creative art and craft of storytelling as well as the academic studies of communication, risk, and emotion. Thanks to our interdisciplinary approach, we believe that sharing intensely personal stories of science is important to both tellers and audiences. It reassures those in pain that they are not alone or unheard. It moves people to think about the world in new ways. Ultimately, we hope it inspires those with power to act. So what action might you take? Pitch us a good idea and you can perform in one of our regular shows. Bring us to your university and we can produce a sponsored show for your community. Request a workshop for your department. Or even just subscribe to our podcast and immerse yourself in stories. Let us know what you decide. We’re always listening.
