The Alan Alda Center for Communicating Science seeks to transform the culture of science by supporting scientists and medical professionals to create genuine connections with diverse audiences through clear and vivid communication. We envision a world where people recognize and understand the value, importance and wonder of science in their daily lives.

Science influences our lives, our economy and our planet in countless ways. Scientists and medical professionals have the potential to answer the critical questions of our time and positively benefit our global community for the foreseeable future.

Since 2009, the Alda Center has trained over 8,000 STEM scientists, faculty members, graduate students and medical professionals in the United States and abroad. Another 27,000 scientists have attended Alda Center lectures and keynote addresses. The Center maintains collaborative relationships with more than 15 U.S. universities, as well as the Australian National University and the University of Dundee, Scotland. Demand for science communication training has increased over the years, from16 workshops in 2010-11 (with over 1,000 scientists trained) growing to 112 workshops in 2015-16 (with over 9,000 scientists trained).
