The Power of Social Media and Effects on Children Teach-Out

How are we impacted by social media? / Lesson 2 of 7

The parent-driven Mott poll - Sarah Clark

3 minutes

Next, we hear from Sarah J. Clark, a research scientist whose focuses include knowledge, attitudes, and practices related to child health. She discusses the C.S. Mott Children's Hospital National Poll on Children's Health (Mott Poll), where she is the co-director. Sarah describes the conclusions of the Mott poll, indicating that about half of parents of children aged 10-12 and a third of parents of children ages 7-9 report that their child used social media. In addition, parents feel that they struggle to keep up with this use. Sarah names some of the more common parental concerns and the need to use social media controls effectively.
