José E. Fernandez is the former President, Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Oriental Bank. Fernández is also a Trustee Emeritus of the University of Notre Dame. He is the Founder and President of the Kinesis Foundation, established in 2004, a non-profit organization dedicated to helping Puerto Ricans students of all backgrounds to achieve a higher education.

In this interview, José E. Fernández, speaks about the lack of support Puerto Rico received following Hurricane María. Fernández also speaks about the inequalities endured by Puerto Ricans on account of the island’s status as a commonwealth, and of the work that Kinesis Foundation did to help the students and families they serve across the island.
