Welcome to the Feminism: From Origins to Evolution Teach-Out

0 minutes

Do you consider yourself a feminist? Do you believe that individuals should be treated equally regardless of their gender? Equal rights to vote and be heard. To receive equal pay for equal work. To be safe. To express themselves. Do you believe in the equality the rights of others, regardless of race, disability, class, or other identities?

Then you are a feminist.

Welcome to the Feminism: Origins to Evolution Teach-Out. In celebration of International Women’s Day on March 8th, this Teach-Out offers an exploration of what contemporary feminism means as part of an intersectional movement for equality and freedom for everyone. Our experts will provide their perspectives on what Feminism means to them and its place in the larger movement for equality for all. You will learn about their approaches to advocating gender equity - as artists and researchers, scholars and community organizers- and reflect upon your own.

After going through this Teach-Out, we're hoping you will be able to:

  • Understand modern perspectives on feminism
  • Articulate what inclusive feminism looks like in your context
  • Imagine ways you could further the cause of gender equality in your community
