In this segment Rachel Nielsen introduces the Colorado Resilience Collaborative at the University of Denver as an organization that aims to prevent targeted violence. She defines targeted violence and offers a brief background into Colorado’s history relating to the topic. She also talks about why people may engage in violent behavior and why it is so important for those around them to intervene.

They are an interdisciplinary initiative that supports those impacted by targeted violence due to radicalization and discrimination, focusing on race/ethnicity, nationality, faith, and ideology. They utilize a trauma-informed, culturally competent and inclusive approach. Their work promotes understanding, healing and help for individuals impacted by targeted violence, as well as for those recruited into groups that advocate violence as a solution.
