Are the Kids Alright? Todd Herrenkohl on the Impact of Early Adversity?
13 minutes
Dr. Todd Herrenkohl is the Marion Elizabeth Blue Professor of Child and Family at the University of Michigan School of Social Work. His primary research interests focus on the areas of child and family well-being, child maltreatment and the psychosocial and developmental underpinnings of health-risk behaviors in youth and adults; substance use, mental and physical health outcomes of adversity; and resilience. One of the issues that has surfaced in this controversy is the negative impact that family separation and detainment could have on young migrant children. In the next segment, Dr. Herrenkohl will discuss the impact of trauma and early adversity on children.
