Community Organizing for Social Justice Teach-Out

Setting the Table / Lesson 1 of 3

Introduction to the Teach-Out

0 minutes

About This Teach-Out

This Teach-Out is for people interested in how to organize for social justice in a society which is becoming more segregated and more diverse. It draws upon Youth Dialogues on Race and Ethnicity in Metropolitan Detroit, a program involving young people of African, Asian, White European, Middle Eastern, and Latin American descent; and the Youth Civil Rights Academy, which aims to prepare a new generation of civil rights and social justice change agents. The videos draw upon these particular programs, but with a broader perspective on organizing for social justice wherever segregation and diversity exist. Because each person learns in a different way, the teach-out includes a variety of learning activities which can be used by an individual, or a group of people, or several groups working together. It has no prerequisites and is intended for all, including pre-college students, college students, teachers, and other adult allies.
