About
Nathaniel Wood is a researcher in the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL), where he investigates novel toolpath strategies for laser powder bed fusion, a type of 3D printing technology. Prior to working at AFRL, he earned his Ph.D. in mechanical engineering at Ohio State University, and then spent a year researching 3D printing toolpaths with Professor Okwudire at the University of Michigan as a postdoctoral assistant. He served as a teaching assistant for several courses in the mechanical engineering department while earning his Ph.D., and was awarded the 2019 Graduate Teaching Associate Award by the Ohio State Department of Mechanical Engineering. Before leaving Ohio State, he served as the lead instructor for the Autumn 2022 offering of Numerical Methods in Mechanical Engineering.
