About
Danyelle's role includes supporting students and student organizations in leadership development through community engagement. She fosters student learning and development through trainings and consultations with student organizations, working with them to advance their goals and meet community-defined needs. Additionally, Danyelle is part of a team that collaborated to create a new massive online open course (MOOC) entitled Community Engagement: Collaborating for Change. Danyelle represented the Ginsberg Center in the two-year development process for this MOOC, which involved interdisciplinary partners across the University of Michigan campus.
Danyelle began working at the Ginsberg Center in 2014, having obtained two Bachelor of Arts degrees in History and Sociology from the University of Georgia and a Master of Arts degree in Higher Education & Student Affairs from (The) Ohio State University. Her interest in community engagement started during graduate school, when she worked a a teaching assistant for a course on women's leadership in community engagement and as a student worker for the Office of Social Change at OSU.
Danyelle enjoys learning how to garden, reading, Netflix, and exploring Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti. Her favorite activities in Ann Arbor are walking downtown, trying new restaurants, and continuing a quest for the perfect brunch. Some of Danyelle’s research interests include learning about student leadership development, the intersections of social identities and service-learning, and organizational change and effectiveness.
